Radiesse® Injectable Implant is a steam-sterilized, latex-free, pyrogen-free, semi-solid, cohesive, and completely biodegradable implant intended for subdermal or deep dermal injection. Its main component is synthetic calcium hydroxyapatite, a biomaterial widely used for over twenty years in areas such as orthopedics, neurosurgery, orthodontics, otorhinolaryngology, and ophthalmology. Calcium hydroxyapatite is the main mineral component found in bones and teeth. The semi-solid consistency of the implant is achieved by suspending calcium hydroxyapatite in an excipient gel composed mainly of sterile water for injection (Sterile Water for Injection USP) and glycerol (USP). The gel structure is obtained by adding a small amount of sodium carboxymethylcellulose (USP). The gel disperses in the body and is replaced by the regeneration of soft tissues, while the calcium hydroxyapatite remains at the injection site. Although the effects of tissue restoration and volume enhancement are long-lasting, they are not permanent.
The particle size in the Radiesse® Injectable Implant ranges from 25 to 45 micrometers, with presentations of 3.0cc, 1.5cc, and 0.8cc. It can be injected with a needle with an outer diameter of 25G / inner diameter of 27G or with a larger diameter needle compatible with a standard Luer connector. The use of needles with an inner diameter less than 27 mm may increase the risk of needle blockage.
COMPOSITION:
The Radiesse® Injectable Implant is provided as a sterile, pyrogen-free syringe, packed in an aluminum foil pouch, which is in turn packed in a cardboard box for easy storage. Each box contains a pre-loaded syringe with 3.0cc of RADIESSE® injection, along with one or two 25G (outer diameter) / 27G (inner diameter) needles. The syringe markings have an accuracy of ±0.05cc for the 3.0cc volume. Do not use if the packaging and/or syringe are damaged, or if the syringe tip or plunger are damaged.
